Maximising Water Efficiency in Limited Space.
Minetek’s floating water evaporators are specifically designed for situations where real estate is limited, providing an efficient solution for water management in tailings dams or ponds. These smaller units are placed on floating pontoons in the middle of the water body, offering a versatile and space-saving alternative to land-based systems.
Improved Efficiency
Minetek’s range of floating evaporators are powered by robust electric motors and designed to process varying capacities of water per minute, ensuring comprehensive and efficient water management.
Patented Nozzles
Specifically designed and engineered to process solids, a critical factor in the longevity, durability, and performance of the units.
World Leading
With over 300 projects completed worldwide, Minetek has established itself as a leader in delivering the world’s largest and most cost-effective water evaporation systems.
Minimise maintenance with our engineered pontoons
Our pontoons are essential components of water management systems, providing stable platforms for various equipment and facilitating easy access for maintenance and operations. Designed in-house to meet rigorous safety standards such as AS1648, our pontoons are engineered for durability, safety, and ease of use. This ensures that our floating evaporators remain reliable and effective even in challenging environmental conditions.
The unique design of Minetek’s floating evaporators allows them to process a wide range of water qualities, including acid water, caustic water, and water with high TDS and TSS. Depending on the climate, our systems can evaporate on a global average of 50% of the spray volume as pure water vapor, with the remaining droplets returning to the pond. This process helps prevent environmental damage by containing toxic water within the pond.
Floating Evaporators
Environmental Management System
Our floating evaporators, powered by robust electric motors, are designed to handle varying capacities of water per minute, ensuring comprehensive and efficient water management. Minetek’s Environmental Management System controls the use of the evaporators based on rainfall, wind, and other environmental conditions. This system ensures optimal performance and compliance with environmental regulations, reducing the risks associated with excess water and preventing potential environmental damage.
Water management applications
Minetek's evaporators cater to a diverse array of industries involved in water management, including mining, oil & gas, municipal sectors, waste management, and industrial settings. Our versatile water management solutions can be seamlessly integrated across various industries and applications to effectively address water management challenges.
Evaporator Systems
Evaporator systems offer an efficient method for reducing excess water volumes, particularly in remote or high-rainfall areas. By converting water into vapour, these systems ease storage pressure and support overall compliance. Find the most common questions about evaporators here.
An evaporator removes water by converting it into vapor. Minetek’s evaporator systems use high-efficiency nozzles and airflow to accelerate natural evaporation, reducing large volumes of wastewater directly on site.
Minetek evaporators can treat a wide range of industrial wastewater. This includes water with high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), high Total Suspended Solids (TSS), high acidity, and contaminants common in mining, oil and gas, and power generation.
Mechanical evaporation is largely unregulated, as it enhances a natural process. However, strict discharge rules from agencies like the U.S. EPA still apply, especially when managing high-contaminant water like acid mine drainage. Permitting depends on site conditions and pollutant levels. Minetek works closely with clients to navigate compliance and approvals as needed.
Minetek evaporators are built with corrosion-resistant stainless steel and durable polymers. These materials are selected for their longevity and ability to withstand harsh water qualities and extreme weather conditions.
Decreased performance is typically caused by nozzle blockages, wind direction changes, low temperatures, or high humidity. Regular inspection and maintenance help maintain consistent evaporation rates.
Minetek systems are engineered to adapt to environmental variables. Our floating and land-based evaporators are strategically positioned and adjusted to account for wind, humidity, and temperature shifts, ensuring optimal output year-round.
Fouling and scaling reduce nozzle performance and limit evaporation efficiency. Minetek’s systems are designed for easy access, quick cleaning, and high tolerance to challenging water compositions, reducing these risks significantly.
Maintenance is minimal but essential. Routine checks include inspecting nozzles, pumps, and structural components. Minetek provides ongoing support and maintenance schedules tailored to operational conditions and system scale.
Evaporators minimize sludge by focusing on water volume reduction. Residue that does accumulate is typically removed from the pond or containment area using standard site remediation equipment, with no special infrastructure required.
Downtime is minimized through modular system design, remote monitoring, and rapid on-site servicing. Minetek’s evaporators are engineered for quick deployment, scalability, and ease of relocation to maintain continuous operation.
