Reduce downtime and achieve operational efficiency with Minetek’s power generation solutions.
Our innovative water management and electrical solutions assist operations that generate power to reach and maintain compliance. Minetek has successfully commissioned projects for power generation operations in around the world.
Over three decades, we’ve tried and tested water management products that process any type of water quality, including coal ash, process, saline, and caustic water, with our evaporation technology. Our engineers have developed the world’s largest and most cost-effective water evaporators, with significant CAPEX savings compared to traditional water management methods.
Cost Savings
Significantly reduce operational costs by minimising the need for off-site disposal and treatment costs.
Environmental Responsibility
Minimisez votre impact environnemental en éliminant le besoin de méthodes traditionnelles d’élimination des déchets liquides et en réduisant le risque de stockage excessif d’eau.
Increase operational hours
Sound reduction technology enables power plants to meet regulatory noise level requirements and extend operational hours.
Regulatory Compliance
Minetek vous aide à naviguer et à dépasser les réglementations environnementales strictes, garantissant ainsi que vos activités restent conformes.
Water management for power plants
The power generation industry often uses steam to generate electricity which requires a significant amount of water.
The vast majority of power plants have recirculating cooling systems that use evaporative cooling to condense steam from the outlet of a turbine. However, some facilities use dry cooling technology, which uses 95% less water. Regardless of the electricity generation method, water management products are required to make this process more efficient and reduce water consumption.
Dewatering coal ash ponds
The demand for coal ash pond dewatering and water storage infrastructure is escalating amid the global transition away from coal-powered facilities towards renewable energy alternatives. New guidelines from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are prompting power utility proprietors to prioritise basin remediation, emphasising the dewatering of ash ponds and the stabilisation of wet ash. This process is vital for managing and treating wastewater from coal-fired power plants and mining operations, where large containment areas store waste byproducts, including coal ash and pollutants.
Proper management is imperative to avert environmental contamination and Minetek’s evaporation technology is the perfect solution.
Minetek’s cost-effective land and floating/pontoon-based water evaporators are capable of efficient coal ash drainage, pond water management and removing Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) in the process.
Saline and brine disposal
Brine water is a specific by-product of the reverse osmosis process, presenting a significant and costly challenge to plants. The result is a highly saline by-product that cannot be released back into the environment due to high levels of contaminants and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
Minetek’s evaporators can process water with high levels of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) as well as a broad range pH and water qualities. Our water evaporation solutions are a versatile and cost-effective solution to disposing of brine water without the need for pre-treatment.
Process water disposal
Process water contains contaminants from industrial processing activities and often comes into contact with raw materials, chemicals or equipment. This water needs to be treated or disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Minetek’s evaporation technology is a cost-effective and supplementary solution to water treatment or transporting water off site, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental regulations.
