Queensland, Australia Copper Mine – Land-Based & Floating Water Evaporation Solution

Water management solution for acid pit dewatering and mine flood mitigation

In the rugged terrain of Queensland, Australia, a leading copper producer faced the critical challenge of managing acid pit dewatering and mitigating mine flooding at their site. To address these demanding conditions, our client partnered with Minetek to implement a comprehensive evaporation solution. Utilising an array of our advanced mechanical evaporation systems — including a 9 x land based water evaporators and 4 x floating water evaporators — Minetek achieved a substantial volume throughput of 1,270 m³/hour (5,560 GPM). This case study explores the deployment of these evaporation systems, demonstrating how they have significantly enhanced water management, ensured regulatory compliance, and fortified the mine’s operational resilience.
