NSW, Australia Coal Mine – Water Evaporation Solution

Minetek Evaporation System Package assists NSW Coal Mine with pit dewatering

Minetek Water collaborated with a coal mining operation in New South Wales, Australia, to deliver an advanced pit dewatering solution tailored to the site’s specific water management challenges. The project involved the installation of a 6 x Water Evaporator System Package, complemented by a Pump Motor Control Centre (MCC) and an EMS Automation Control System integrated with a weather station. With a total volume throughput of 1,620 cubic meters per hour (7,200 gallons per minute), this solution provided an effective and automated approach to reducing excess water levels in the mining pits, ensuring safe operations and regulatory compliance.

Location – NSW, Australia
Industry – Coal Mining
Application – Pit dewatering
Product – 6 x Water Evaporator System Package, 1 x Pump MCC, 1 x EMS Automation Control System and Weather Station
Volume throughput – 1,620 m3/hour (7,200 GPM)

Brief

This coal mining operation in New South Wales was facing challenges managing excess water levels in its open pits. To prevent water accumulation from affecting production and safety, the site required a robust dewatering solution that could quickly and efficiently reduce water levels while providing automated control and monitoring capabilities.

Challenge

Failure to control water levels in the pits could lead to several risks, including operational delays, reduced production, potential safety hazards, and regulatory non-compliance. An effective and automated pit dewatering system was crucial to maintaining safe and efficient mining operations while adhering to environmental regulations.

Solution

Minetek Water delivered a comprehensive solution by deploying a 6 x Water Evaporator System Package, supported by a Pump MCC and an EMS Automation Control System with a weather station. With a combined evaporation capacity of 1,620 cubic meters per hour (7,200 gallons per minute), these systems significantly reduced water levels in the pits while providing real-time monitoring and control. This high-capacity and automated solution ensured effective water management, minimised operational risks, and maintained regulatory compliance, allowing the site to achieve safe and sustainable mining operations.
